Summary:Two days of study were devoted a few years ago to the lapidary deposits relating to medieval monuments in Picardy and Northern France - "Architecture in objects: the lapidary deposits of Picardy" (University of Picardie, Amiens, September 2006) and "Architecture in objects: the lapidary deposits of Northern France" (INHA, Paris, December 2008). This third meeting, which took place at the University of Artois on November 29, 2019, was an opportunity to present the latest studies on this theme. Fragments of architecture - whether preserved in sites or monuments themselves, in museums, in archaeological centers, etc. - form either the sole vestiges of destroyed buildings, or witnesses scattered among the ruins, or a deposit created during restorations undertaken on a monument or following archaeological projects. The diversity of their nature and their place of conservation as well as their owner, however, calls for similar questions. The proceedings of this study day aim to make known and compare the results of various research and reflections undertaken on the lapidary collections of Flanders, Artois and Cambrésis, linked to religious, civil and editorial. The chronological field largely focused on the Middle Ages is also open to modern times. This work brings together contributions written by heritage professionals, art and architectural historians and archaeologists. They concern the history of the lapidary collections of a place and their content, on a particular fund, on the material management of these collections, the means and methods implemented for their study, fundamental for the contribution to knowledge monumental, and their promotion to a wide audience.
