Summary: | Heart scarabs are inscribed with spell 30B from the Book of the Dead and are usually depicted with a beetle head, but a very small number of such amulets show the scarab with a human face or head. One of these extraordinary objects was found during recent excavations in Zawyet Sultan, Middle Egypt.Based on the analysis and discussion of this newly excavated object, this publication will shed new light on the context of human faced heart scarabs from a philological, archaeological, and historico-cultural perspective. |
