Rebach (sociology, University of Maryland Eastern Shore) with a group of coauthors from other disciplines has compiled a bibliography intended to identify critical issues and survey the literature on substance abuse among US African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans, Native Americans, and Alaskan Indian/Pacific Islanders. Although these groups are at "particularly high risk for substance abuse," research has not been plentiful; Rebach records only 168 articles, 1980 to the present. This reference helps bridge this gap. Each entry is accompanied by a full summary of the article and an analytical critique that points out weaknesses and strengths of the research and its findings. Included are a useful index of authors and a unique table showing each article with four dimensions: ethnic group, age of subjects, topic, and substance. Recommended for academic libraries and professionals. M.E. Leverence; Governors State University
