Caldwell, cofounder of Better Farm, a sustainable farm and artists' colony, avows that environmental issues are universal, and that individuals can create a difference in making the planet, including the land and people, a better place. The key to the author's "Better Theory" is that every experience, good or bad, is an opportunity for growth. She presents stories of people who have started communities to serve those with physical disabilities, homeless veterans, and others who simply want to live off the earth. Many of the examples (instructions for building greenhouses and compost bins) revolve around Caldwell's farm commune, but her vision expands to all who desire a more fulfilling life. -VERDICT Rewarding for those who already espouse the cause. © Copyright 2015.
