Description
Summary:London International PLC underwrote the cartographic expenses, and the title reflects the importance of its sponsorship to the production of this study. Summarizing and mapping the first decade of the AIDS scourge, it draws upon the mountain of published data from 200 countries over the period 1980-90. Arrangement is in four sections. The first considers the nature of AIDS and analyzes the sources of knowledge; the second, origins and dispersals; the third (forming the bulk of the atlas), AIDS and HIV patterns in major parts of the world; and the fourth, the economic perspective and future scenarios. Unfortunately for the users of this important reference, the across- the-top binding is awkward, an inconvenient format justified by neither the textual or graphical contents. 12x9" Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
