The book is an expansion of a doctoral study examining social identity, gender identity, and social gender identity. Utilizing ethnograpic investigation and observational assessments of individual children yielded data measuring the impact of schooling on social gender identities. Having developed a theoretical model of social gender identity and socialization, the investigators explored their conceptualizations empirically and then evaluated their framework in relationship to their findings. The authors provide a detailed explanation of all stages of the formulation of their constructs, the manner in which they were tested, appraisal of the results, comparisons with the original formulations, and conclusions. This is a scholarly work that utilizes current literature and research on gender identities. Graduate students; faculty; educational administrators. B. O.
