A clearer understanding of the needs and methods to monitor water quality through macroinvertebrates is presented in this book, which serves as a good appraisal of latest techniques and review for the reader. As noted in the introduction, this volume covers a wide range of specialized topics related to better surveillance and recent developments directed toward the future science of freshwater biomonitoring. The book contains a series of articles by specialists covering the history, with a valuable appraisal of the available literature, as well as good examples and up-to-date approaches to take that would be accepted and utilized by regulatory agencies as evidence of changes in the freshwater environment. This work is encompassing in terms of analysis and interpretations and toxological studies, with a clear assessment of the future direction in freshwater biomonitoring. Discussion of the special invertebrates--macroinvertebrates--forms the final chapter. A good reference for limnology and understanding of freshwater ecosystems.
