Summary:	Based on an April 1991 conference sponsored by The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, 15 papers review the latest research findings on how children at various ages are impacted by having a sibling with mental retardation, chronic illness, or physical or learning disabilities. Among the themes addressed are the role of culture in sibling relationships, risk factors for psychopathology, and the effect of out-of-home placement of the afflicted sibling.
