Summary: | The Italian premier Vittorio Orlando came to Paris as one of the "Big Four," yet in April 1919 he walked out in one of the most dramatic crises of the Peace Conferences. Orlando's failure to satisfy his country's territorial demands in the Balkans directly led to the rise of Fascism and to Mussolini's policies in the 1930s as he sought to obtain what Italy had been denied at Versailles. Professor Spencer M. di Scala 's previous book Italy: From Revolution to Republic, 1700 to the Present was chosen as an alternate of the History Book Club and has gone into several editions. |
