This book is what the editors call a "boundary text," a collection of works from feminist-informed sports studies and from a feminist cultural studies perspective. These readings are intended to answer questions relating to gender, the body, and sport. The book is divided into five sections: "Women, Sport and Ideology"; "Gender and the Organization of Sport"; "Women in the Male Preserve of Sport"; "Media, Sport and Gender;" and "Sport and the Politics of Sexuality." The 24 pieces relate to these topics, e.g., "Gender and the Coaching Profession"; "A Postmodern Paradox? Cheerleaders at Women's Sporting Events"; "Gender Stereotyping in Televised Sports." Many of the chapters use technical feminist terms; thus, this book is recommended for upper-division undergraduates and graduate students in women's studies and women's sports. J.
