Written by three prominent researchers in the area, this book provides an authoritative overview of developments in longitudinal data analysis. Linear models and generalized linear models for discrete data are covered in detail, and the final chapter deals with the issue of missing data and reviews some recent developments. Though the authors suggest that the book can be used with final-year undergraduate students in statistics, this reviewer suspects that this is somewhat optimistic. The ideal audience for this book is statisticians who are familiar with some of the classical ideas of longitudinal analysis but are not entirely current with modern developments. For statistical consultants, or for graduate students and others planning to update their knowledge for future research, this book is a valuable resource. For the consultant, it provides examples of real applications; for the researcher, it provides a succinct overview of important recent ideas and a comprehensive guide to the literature. Highly recommended. Graduate; faculty; professional. R. Thomas; Carleton University
