This is a useful study on an important question: What are the underlying factors behind the successful development experience of some Southeast Asian countries, e.g., South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, and Thailand, and what is the relevance of their development strategies for other Asian economies? The book contains six well-written articles using updated statistics on the development experience of the successful East Asian countries and their relevance for India, which has recently adopted vital economic reforms in various sectors of the economy. The conclusions drawn are useful for policy makers in developing countries as well as for students interested in development economics. Upper-division undergraduate through professional collections.
