Summary: | Utilizing data from 25 countries, this study examines the relations between fertility & child survival in the 1980s & formulates policy guidelines based on more recent findings. The first part of the study assesses the excess risks of child mortality associated with child-bearing too early or with short intervals between births. The second part examines how far the differences observed are affected by a range of controls, such as mother's education, father's occupation & place of residence.
