Summary:Produced as documentation of his mission work and inspiration for others, this book contains an original map of the areas visited and diary-like entries. However, the ultimate purpose was to aid other missionaries in learning about and recognizing customs and people, so the writing sometimes reads like reporting. The first volume of the series covers the author's journey through Turkey and Persia. The introduction provides some selected translations of the Koran and explanations of Islam.
