Guderjan and Garber have gathered ten articles on the archaeological record of Ambergris Caye, Belize, with emphasis on Maya maritime trade. Archaeological work undertaken during the project, results of which are reported here, included excavation of select localities and a general survey of the region, the latter undertaken in an effort to place the excavated archaeological remains in a broader context. Chapters present survey results, analysis of lithic artifacts, and analysis of human remains. Archaeologists will be particularly interested in the discussion of architectural remains and ceramic vessels. Numerous projects have been undertaken over the past two decades by several institutions, with emphasis on Classic-period trade. This volume is another in an ever-growing number of publications on the archaeological record of the Belize coast. The collection will interest Maya specialists. Includes 32 tables, 96 figures, and a references-cited section. M. J. O'Brien; University of Missouri--Columbia
