Description
Summary:A collection of articles on rhetorical theory, selections from textbooks, and the poetry, fiction, and plays written by Buck, a professor of English at Vassar College from 1897 to 1922 and a major innovator in rhetorical theory. Much of her writing has gone out of print and editor Campbell (English, Indiana U.) helps to revive an interest in the woman whose work provided the foundation for reader-response literary theory, and who quietly challenged the dominant masculine rhetorics taught at Harvard and Amherst. Buck's play Mother-Love is included in its entirety. Lacks an index. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
