Index to 203 recent collections of popular music with access by title, first line, composer-lyricist, and performer for more than 4,000 songs. One of the few sources to index songs by the performers who made them popular. (See RBB, December 1, 1984.)

Five years after the publication of their successful Find That Tune ( LJ 3/1/84), Sharma and Gargan have again collaborated to produce a second volume covering over 4000 popular rock songs published from 1950 to 1985 and gleaned from 202 sheet music collections not indexed in the first volume. Indexed by collection, title, first line, composer-lyricist, and performer, the works are consistent in arrangement. Improvements over the previous edition include greater attention to the identification of multiple performers to each song and the provision of several sheet music distributors stocking the collections indexed. Still, though this second volume includes all-new source collections, the time period examined extends the coverage of the first volume by only four years. Also, a survey of the first 1000 songs in the title index revealed that approximately 45 percent were also listed in the previous edition.-- Barry Miller, Austin P.L., Tex. (c) Copyright 2010.
