O'Shea, a doctoral student in social work, and Fletcher, an experienced researcher in criminal justice, have prepared a useful bibliography on women offenders. Citations have been drawn from a variety of sources and are grouped in eight broad topical areas. Each entry is limited to two lines, which is often too brief to be fully explanatory. In addition, the eight broad topic areas are each much too large to provide a focused approach; for example, "Crimes" is a vast subject encompassing such topics as murder, fetal abuse, substance abuse, white collar crime, and infanticide. Given the space limitations of the work and the lack of readily available bibliographies on the important subject of women offenders, this book will prove useful to students at all levels to help them find key sources in the field. The editors note in their introduction that this is a work-in-progress, and they welcome additions or corrections. E. B. Ryner; FBI Academy Library
