Summary: | As communism fell in Europe, a period of transformations began in several areas. This work examines the changes in health care in the former German Democratic Republic, the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary and Poland. The book consists of two parts - the first containing a general description and analysis of the health care systems of the countries studied. The appraisal of what has been achieved is made possible by comparison with the state of the health care structure before the collapse of communist rule. In the second part, a more detailed description of developments is given.
