Description
Summary:

Loaded with ideas and strategies that can be used in any teaching situation and with any subject, this book will save teachers time and energy. These visual frameworks, or graphic organizers as they are sometimes called, offer a fresh approach to classroom activities and are designed to be implemented at a moment's notice with little or no preparation. The authors describe such techniques as flow charts, story maps, Venn diagrams, frameworks for webbing, KWL charts, and semantic feature analysis. For each strategy they explain what it is, why it should be used, and how to use it with the whole class, small groups, or individuals. The book also introduces several frameworks that can be used with students to help them learn to organize their thinking, take notes, and arrange and prioritize the information they gather. All ideas have been classroom tested and are illustrated with examples of actual student work. All Levels.
