Appeared first in 1836 (?) as v.5 of the author's Cours d'antiquités monumentales, pub. in 6 vols. and atlas, Caen-l'aris, 1831-43. In 1837 v.4 and 5 of that work were pub. in one volume (with 80 plates) under title: Histoire de l'architecture religieuse, civile et militaire du moyen âge (quoted in Bibliographie de la France, 1837, no. 4615) A résumé of this work appeared in 1853, with title as in the present edition. (In both these editions the plates of the former editions are replaced by numerous full-page illustrations) cf. Pref. to the author's Abécédaire ... Architecture religieuse. 5. éd. 1886. |
