Summary: | Drawn from the February 1997 international seminar Nuclear- Weapon-Free Zones (NWFZs) in the Next Century (held during the 30th anniversary of the Treaty of Tlatelolco's creation of the first NWFZ in the world), the 20 chapters in this volume explore the legacy of Tlatelolco. In addition, the papers discuss the three other NWFZs created since 1985; examine the possibilities for other NWFZs in regions such as Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Central and Southern Asia, and the Korean peninsula; and attempt to map out strategies to expand NWFZs as both ends and means of global peace processes.
