A regional guide to Wisconsin's state parks and national recreation lands (including wildlife refuges and trails). Umhoefer's claim that there are outdoor attractions to "satisfy the city-soft as well as the wilderness-experienced" is well documented in his descriptions of each park. There is little extraneous information here on the Badger State; instead, Umhoefer offers straightforward description of each nature site, including the location, facilities, main attraction, flora and fauna, and "things to do." Maps and symbols enhance this basic guidebook's usefulness. Index. --Denise Perry Donavin
