| Item Description: | Compiled by Joseph Marchal while librarian of the Bibliothèque royale des ducs de Bourgogne, before it was merged into the Bibliothèque royale de Belgique in 1838. Vol. 1 contains a comprehensive history ("Résume historique") of the collection, with chapters on other noted medieval collections; reprints of the catalogs drawn up by Viglius ab Aytta in 1577 and P. Franquen in 1731; "Inventaire. N.̊ 1-18000." Vols. 2-3 ("Répertoire méthodique") comprise polygraphy and history (v. 3: Histoire des Pays Bas) The work was never completed as planned, but a "Répertoire onomastique" was issued by Marchal in 1857. |
