| Summary: | The topic of this study is highly relevant for the history of the Seleucid Empire. Due to the patchiness of the known sources the study deals with a difficult area. In order to determine a more coherent picture of this relatively obscure and largely misunderstood history, Lerner disentangles from the various literary traditions from the individuals and events to which they relate. Numismatic evidence is also taken into consideration, for instance in the discussion of Euthydemus' Sogdian coinage.
