Description
Summary:Widely recognized in Rumania as their greatest painter, Nicolae Grigorescu (1838-1907) remains very little known outside his country. This volume covers his classical period as well as the years in which he established reputation in France. It records pictures painted in France where he discovered Impressionism. The influence of the French school is undeniable, even with his highly personal and typically Rumanian style. His beautiful landscapes secure his place as one of the important landscape painters of the 19th century. The book discusses and reproduces most of the paintings done by Grigorescu.
