Description
Summary:Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks 2000 (MWCN2000) was the second conference in its series aimed at stimulating technical exchange in the emergingandimportantel dofMobileandWirelessCommunicationsNetworks. Therst conferencetookplaceatSorbonneUniversity, Paris, FranceMay12{{15, 1997. Integration of xed and portable wireless access technologies and their mobility featuresintocurrentx edandmobileIPandATMnetworkspresentsacoste- tiveande cientwaytoprovideseamlessend-to-endconnectivityandubiquitous access in a market where demands on wireless networks have grown rapidly and which is predicted to generate billions of dollars in revenue. The deployment of broadband cell-based technologies including demand for internet mobility and their integration with emerging broadband wireless access networks (BWANs) are becoming increasingly important. Mobility and connection management, - cation management, connection establishment, quality of service provisioning, inter-working of wire-lines with wireless networks for voice, video, image, and data were some of the areas of focus in wireless networking of this conference. In the last few years with the development of digital technologies, satellites have emerged in the forefront of multimedia delivery techniques. From using current digital broadcast systems for web access to developing sophisticated platforms for integrated services, satellite networking is now a well-established solution for the broadband needs of the new millennium. This workshop was intended to providea timely forumfor exploratoryresearchandpracticalcontributionsfrom NorthAmerica, Europe, TheMiddleEast, andTheFarEast.Ithelpeddesigners to identify the theoretical and actual problems that face today's complex pr- lems associated with mobile and wireless communications links and networks.
