Mezey's encyclopedia supports its bold claim as the first comprehensive source devoted to current peer-reviewed information on elder care with an impressive list of editors, advisers, and contributors and inclusion of related concerns such as Medicaid, Medicare, pensions, retirement, and voluntarism. Besides acute medical care topics, the work covers ancillary subjects (restraints, wandering, suicide, relocation). Each entry provides a page to a page and a half of text, a bibliography, see also references, keywords for searching, and relevant Internet sites. The see also references do not always refer to each other. Citations in the lengthy general bibliography are for the most part not older than the 1990s, and there is a substantial subject index. ^BSumming Up: Recommended.
