This ten-year cumulation of the "Index to CD and Record Reviews" column will be the last, since the final column appeared in NOTES: Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association in September 1997 after a run of nearly 50 years. Like previous cumulations, this preserves the format of the NOTES column, with the addition of corrections and enhanced author and performer indexes. Names and titles generally follow LC practice, except for English-language conventions for titles (e.g., Marriage of Figaro instead of Nozze di Figaro). Nearly 37,000 recordings (classical only) were reviewed during this period in the 23 periodical titles indexed. Volumes I and 2 list individual recordings, arranged by label and number; volume 3 contains indexes to composer/title and performer. The composer/title index includes anthologies analyzed by instrument or genre. Since recordings go out of stock rapidly or are reissued (especially the major labels), librarians may find this set of limited use for collection development. Its value will be seen in several years as discographers begin to include more recent performers and works; its entries are more accurate than those found in the journals themselves. A warning: some sets (including that reviewed) lack p. 541-606 (entries 16,576 through 18,539). J. Farrington Eastman School of Music
