Description
Summary:The American Gothic was born in Britain with architects who had a love for the romantic and the picturesque and were influenced by Charles Locke Eastlake's writings. Some of America's foremost architects were a part of this movement, such as Frank Lloyd Wright, the firm of Sullivan and Adler and many others. Here are American Gothic churches and cathedrals, private dwellings, university buildings, government offices, rail terminals. Equal weight is given to the revival in England.<p>(Yale University Art Gallery)
