Description
Summary:Myers (criminology, Indiana U. of Pennsylvania) examines the practice of excluding violent youths from juvenile court and sending them to adult court instead. Based upon data on 557 youths transferred to adult court in Pennsylvania in 1994, he concludes that such transfers increase the likelihood of recidivism. His analysis considers the nature of punishment in the juvenile and adult justice systems and the deterrent effect of juvenile transfer. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
