Gr 5-7 Anecdotal material lightens the load of facts, and black-and-white photographs break up the text in this survey of Soviet Georgia. Organized in a roughly chronological order, the book shows readers how the location of Georgia, between the Black and Caspian Seas and between Asia and Europe, has affected its development. Topics covered include the economy, arts, culture, land and climate, government, and ethnic populations. Neither personalized nor deep, the book is quite adequate for reports and background material involving the USSR. A quick fact guide and time line are included.
