Owen has expanded and combined her previous works Costume Design on Broadway: Designers and Their Credits, 1915-1985 (1987), Lighting Design on Broadway: Designers and Their Credits, 1915-1990 (1991), and Scenic Design on Broadway: Designers and Their Credits, 1915-1990 (CH, Apr'92) into a single complete index. The book covers the 20th century beginning with the 1899-1900 season and ending with 2000-2001, and provides biographical information about nearly 2,400 designers. Most of the biographies of designers are comprehensive, while a few acknowledge only that the listed designer was credited with work on certain productions. The length of sketches varies depending on the biographies found in playbills and theater archives. Three appendixes list the Tony Awards, Donaldson Awards, and the Maharam, American Theater Wing, and Henry Hewes design winners. The volume ends with an alphabetical index to Broadway plays, which lists the designers for each production. An excellent addition to the series. ^BSumming Up: Highly recommended.
