Lawal (St. Cloud Univ.) has provided an excellent resource for applied statisticians and biometricians, which has a unique selection and coverage of categorical data analysis topics using SAS and SPSS software applications. Useful as a textbook or resource book, it offers numerous student-friendly examples and end-of-chapter exercises that require intensive usage of PC-based statistical software such as SPSS PROC CROSSTABS, GENLOG, LOGLINEAR, SAS PROC FREQ, GENMOD, PROBIT, etc. In addition, there are numerous recent references for those interested in further readings as well as a very extensive bibliography. Topics often ignored in other books such as generalized estimating equations and one-way classification are treated in great detail. A one-year course in calculus and a statistical methods course are essential as background for understanding the material. ^BSumming Up: Highly recommended.
