According to the Fihrist-i kutub-i Kitābkhānah-ʼi Āstān-i Quds-i Raz̤avī (Mashhad: Matbaʻ-i Nawbahār, 1305- [1926-]), vol. 11, p. 252), the name of the author or the title is not mentioned in the text; on front page the title (more correctly, the subject) is given as "Kitāb al-Firaq wa-al-tawārīkh" and is attributed (wrongly) to Ghazzālī, for the date of composition is given as 540 Q. [1145] on p. 99, while al-Ghazzālī died in 1111; incorporated in the text is a poem by the Abbasid poet ʻAlī ibn al-Jahm (d. 863).
