Description
Summary:In this study that relies upon early Persian and Muslim sources, the author explores the questions of the name, date, origin, function and significance of the Large Vault at Taq-i Bustan. Noteworthy observations on the function and significance of the monument are its identification as a triumphal arch that served as a vehicle of expression of ancient Iranian multi-layered concept of kingship.
