Summary: | This study presents a collection of group statues of private individuals from the New Kingdom of Egypt. Since some have not previously been published, and some are inadequately published, it first includes a catalogue of all the 151 known statues that the author has been able to collect. The second part of the study offers an investigation and analysis, in which the author sets out a typology for the statues, based on their style and the persons they present. Another typology is set out for the clothing and wigs (male and female) of the statues. From this, the author is able to study the development of the statues over the period of the New Kingdom, to examine whether their style was rigid, variable, or had any common features, and to offer a study of regional variations. This volume is part of a two volume set: ISBN 9781407315492 (Volume I); ISBN 9781407315508 (Volume II); ISBN 9781841717128 (Set of both volumes).
