Summary:Darkness spoken collects Ingeborg Bachmann's two celebrated books of poetry, as well as the early and late poems not collected in book form. This edition also contains 129 poems released from Bachmann's archives that have never before been translated. Twenty-five of these poems also appear in German in this bilingual edition for the first time anywhere, making Darkness spoken the most complete volume of Bachmann's poetry in English and German. Bachmann is considered one of the most important poets to emerge in post-war German letters, and this volume represents the largest collection available of this major voice in 20th-century poetry.
