Summary: | Taken in the late 60's and early 70's, Platen's bandw portraits of artists recall a period of dramatic and momentous change in both art and society. She depicts more than 60 artists who were practically unknown at the time but who have since achieved fame. Drawing her inspiration from the unique individuality of the artists and their works, her goal was to portray the artists in their own context, creating a visual link between artist and work, thus presenting a personal and aesthetically convincing interpretation of the art scene at the time. Text is in German, French, and English. Oversize: 10.25x12". Distributed by Abbeville Press. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR |
