This is among the first titles in a new series called Who We Are, by the same people who publish the popular consumer statistical series Household Spending. The new series combines the data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Consumer Expenditure Survey with the results from the American Time Use Survey to give us a comprehensive look at all sorts of characteristics from three groups: Asians, blacks, and Hispanics. The book is divided into nine chapters covering topics such as education, housing, and income. Each chapter includes highlights, followed by illustrations (tables and graphs), which are arranged into topical sections. Larger chapters, like Education and Health, have around 22 illustrations, and smaller chapters, like Time Use, may only have 9. Also included are a table of contents, a list of tables, a list of illustrations, an executive summary, a glossary, a bibliography, and an index. This new series is a great addition to all the other books published by New Strategist. The volumes are easy to use, with straightforward language, graphs, and charts. Designed for researchers and businesspeople, the series is also useful for students who need socioeconomic data on these races and ethnic groups. Highly recommended for academic and large public libraries.--Donaldson, Christy Copyright 2008 Booklist
