Review by Library Journal Review

Director John Huston's adaptation of Malcolm Lowry's supposedly unfilmable novel offers a juicy role for Albert Finney as Geoffrey Firmin, the former British vice consul stationed in Cuernavaca, Mexico, on the eve of World War II, who keeps himself in a perpetual alcoholic fog in order to preserve an illusion of dignity up until the last hours of his life. Jacqueline Bisset is radiant as his estranged wife, who returns just in time to share his doom. For most collections. (c) Copyright 2010.
