L. McCabe and E. McCabe (both, UCLA) offer an informative volume on the impact genetics has and will continue to have on everyone's lives. The authors offer a valuable discussion of how ethical, legal, and social factors influence the future, given one's DNA. Most significantly, this well-written book is very easy to understand. Chapters range from "DNA Sequence Does Not Equal Destiny" and "What Is Genomics" to "Large Population Assessments: The Foundation for Genomic Medicine" and "Hidden Destiny: Unbounded by Your DNA." The primary audience for this book is laypeople, who will find a great deal of information, simple explanations, and Web sites regarding genetic testing, genetic diseases, and the future of genomic medicine. Summing Up: Recommended. General readers. S. C. Grossman Fairfield University
