All the essays in this compilation seek to investigate and further expand the boundaries found at the conceptual limits of aesthetic experience. The editors have divided the volume into three sections--"Experience and the Nature of the Aesthetic," "The Value and Scope of Aesthetic Experience," and "Aesthetic Experience, Artists, and Philosophies of Art"--according to the essays' attempts to present the essential details of the experience, understand the value this experience holds, and lastly discuss the relation such an experience has regarding artists and artworks. In their interplay, the essays recognize the problematic nature of aesthetic experience--the difficulties in discerning its precise importance in enriching human life, and in confining its conceptual reach. Though the book is not necessarily intended for a specific audience, given that certain essays require more philosophic background and focus than others, it will best serve advanced students and scholars.
