Description
Summary:This is the third edition of Part A of Seismic Migration - now widely recognized as an authoritative, thorough treatment of seismic migration theory and methods. In previous editions, the emphasis has been on migration techniques based on the one-way wave equations. Nowadays, however, two-way wave-equation-based techniques are receiving increasingly more attention in the seismic literature and it is expected that two-way migration software will play a vital role in the future. In this new edition, therefore, Professor Berkhout devotes an equal amount of attention to one-way and two-way techniques. In chapters 5 to 12, all subjects are discussed according to the one-way and two-way approach, and the results are related to each other. Considering the growing importance of pre-stack migration in the seismic industry, ample attention has been paid to the theory of multi-dimensional pre-stack inversion. In particular, pre-stack migration has been treated in the shot-receiver space as well as in the midpoint-space. Again, results are related to each other.
