Covers in detail the subjects of anorexia nervosa and bulimia from past research and treatments, to current diagnostic methodologies and care, to future research possibilities. The contents for each of the three parts are described at least four times throughout the book-an unusual feature for a dynamic book with only 204 pages. The references at each chapter end are extensive and current, but since family and research are frequent subjects throughout the book, these need to be more thoroughly referenced in the index. There are sufficient graphs, illustrations, and tables at the critical points of the contents to motivate the reader to learn more about these subjects. Many people assisted in the writing of the book, so there is no distinct individual style, but the skillful editing makes it like a story unfolding, with a tantalizing piece of information at each chapter end to spur the reader on. There is minimal use of very technical language, which makes the book ideal for nonmedical students or for anybody who needs to read about these illnesses. (In contrast, see the review of the highly technical Theory and Treatment of Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia, below.) This book would be an excellent resource for high school and college libraries. Nursing students, particularly, would find this book to be a compendium of everything needed to write a report or to give a presentation.-G. Russell, Tennessee Technological University
