| Summary: | "By the 1950s colonial rule in the Gold Coast had brought about the restructuring of traditional economies, producing additional income from natural resources and developing its agrarian potential for the benefit of the British Empire. However beneficial colonial rule might have been, decolonization in 1957 significantly gave management of the postcolonial economy to native leadership.
