A collection of essays by six British authors who discuss the sometimes conflicting but interwoven strands of ideology informing ``the New Right'' in Britain and the US. The authors wish ``to understand and to combat the rise of right-wing ideas and policies that has occurred since the mid-1970's,'' although their emphasis is mostly on analysis, not combat. Although attention is focused mainly on the British political scene, much of the discussion carries over to parallels in the US. Overall, the book is a useful and interesting addition to the history of political ideology, with the reservation that it presumes the reader to be already well informed about the politics and political theory of the two countries.
