Summary: | This analysis of early metalworking in Mesopotamia comprises a catalogue of 2,623 metal objects from 68 find sites in Iraq and Syria. This is followed by another catalogue or inventory of 2777 X-ray fluoresence and 145 neutron activation analyses of these objects. This material, much of which came from the royal cemetery at Ur, is intended to provide the solid basis for analysis of the Mesopotamian metal industry during the 2nd millennium BC. The catalogues are briefly introduced in German and English and are followed by numerous illustrations of many of the objects, including swords, vessels, tools and personal items. |
