This updated edition (1st, Promoting Health in Multicultural Populations, 1999) for students and practitioners in public health and related fields is a valuable resource for understanding health promotion in culturally diverse population groups in North America. It helps readers better understand concepts, assessment methods, and implementation guidelines, and offers suggestions for planning health promotion programs and promoting health with multicultural peoples. The editors have expanded the first part of the book to include new chapters on health disparities among multicultural groups in the US, ethical concerns in multicultural contexts, and considerations for working cross-culturally. Part 2 considers several multicultural groups: Hispanic/Latino, African American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Asian American, and Pacific Islander populations. For each group, chapters offer an overview of the population from various perspectives, guidelines for practice, a case study, and practical tips. Drawing on contributors who are leading experts on these groups, this compendium will help readers become better equipped to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs with diverse cultural groups. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through professionals/practitioners. D. E. Bill West Chester University
