Description
Summary:Berner, a knowledgeable Nordic diplomat, traces the recent history of Soviet policies toward the five Scandinavian nations: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. This volume begins with an overview of Russian relations with this region prior to the Bolshevik revolution and a discussion of pre-World War diplomacy toward Finland and Sweden. The book then turns to its primary subject of the complex post-war relations between the U.S.S.R. and its northern neighbors. Co-published with the Harvard University Center for International Affairs.
